Well, it's that time of the year when we fire up the glue guns and try to remember how the sewing machine works. This year the kids have expressed a desire to be germs for Halloween and here's the run-down. The youngest will be a Paramecium (pictured), next up will be an ameba and finally the oldest will don the diarrhea inducing apparel of the dreaded, Cryptosporidium, the scourge of late summer that closed the pools early. What could be scarier?

Here are a few shots of the kid's bathroom after much stripping, scraping, sanding, coughing, painting and praying. The only thing left is the tile floor which we decided to have professionally installed. Just a hint if you are planning on having a tile floor installed from The Home Depot. The job title, "Flooring Expeditor" isn't very accurate. We did, however, deal with a totally awesome Flooring Specialist named DJ at the store at 95th and Metcalf. Very helpful and actually did, in fact, expedite things very nicely. Kind of wish he also was the Tile Installer because that has yet to be done.

The Longboard

The current issue of Make Magazine has a nice little tutorial on making your own, simple longboard. At 8" by 4' it's a smooth, easy ride. I ordered the wheels and trucks from Amazon and didn't notice I bought the "Bigfoot" brand which are about twice the size of regular wheels. Because of the wheel size the board looks like a regular skateboard enlarged on the Xerox about 150%! I threw my daughter in there for scale. Anyway, the polyurethane is now dry and the weather is fine. I imagine once school's done there will be surfing in the streets!

The wait is over! My very good and talented friend, Carl Moore, has launched his very own card line!

He has unleashed his considerable card-crafting experience, his good-natured sense of humor and his steadfast faith and has created the Salt and Light Card Company. His first offering is a departure from your average, run of the paper mill, humorous greeting cards on the market because his are actually funny.

And if you like eye candy with your order you won't be disappointed. I count Carl in my top 5 artist I would surgically swap brains with. The guy not only can draw anything he can draw anything really well!

They are available at a few outlets right now but expect that number to grow. If your Christian humor card store manager doesn't carry Salt and Light cards, grab him by the lapel, give him a good shaking and ask him why not!

A high point on our trip was our visit with Kevin Hurley and the rest of the staff at the Boy's Life studio! Great time, great folks! We even were sent home with a parting gift - the big Pee Wee cut-out! I was lucky enough to have it in my studio for a couple of days before Becca put it in her room.
